The Gap State High School has a large and dynamic instrumental music program.
Over the past few years, our ensembles have achieved recognition such as:
State Fanfare Festival Best Performance; Metropolitan winner 2010, 2012, State Finalist 2010, 2012, Grand Finalist 2010
National Percussion Eisteddfod; finalist 2010, Australian champions 2008, 2012
QSuper State Showcase Award for Academic Excellence; winner 2010 for AMPed: Music Theory into BEST Practice - school accelerated music program
Many students have participated in Creative Generations - State Schools on Stage, Eisteddfods, Generations in Jazz and the Queensland Music Festival.
Currently, we have 1 choir, 3 concert bands, 3 string ensembles, 2 jazz bands, 2 percussion ensembles and a number of small ensembles.
Specialist instrumental teachers coordinate and manage weekly lessons, rehearsals, and regular performances.
Facilities include a 700 seat performance hall, auditorium, rehearsal rooms, practice rooms and instrument storage areas.
