Brett Lupi is freelance percussionist and music educator in Louisville, KY. He holds a K – 12 Music Teacher Certification from the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board and the New York State Department of Education.
Mr. Lupi has held the position as a Guest Percussion Director at the Crane School of Music, coaching and conducting undergraduate chamber ensembles with the Crane Percussion Repertoire Ensemble. A private percussion instructor, his students have attended and performed in the NYSSMA and KMEA Solo and Ensemble Festivals, Area – All State, and All- County Bands. Mr. Lupi has also served as the Front Ensemble Coordinator with the Port Chester High School Marching Band “The Pride of Port Chester” in Port Chester, NY. At Port Chester he taught keyboard and orchestral percussion techniques, private winds and brass lessons, and elementary and middle school band.
Mr. Lupi has performed with the American Symphony Orchestra, Louisville Orchestra, Louisville Ballet, Louisville Chorus, Orchestra of Northern New York, Wagner Theater Company, Westchester Symphonic Winds, and multiple Off and Off - Off Broadway musicals in New York City. Mr. Lupi has performed at many venues and events including PASIC, SUNY Day of Percussion, PAS/NYU/KoSA Weekend of Percussion, NYSSMA Winter Conference, WASBE Conference, Brooklyn Panorama, Drum Boogie Festival, Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space, Brown Theater, Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, and many others. Mr. Lupi is a member of the Percussive Arts Society, National Association for Music Education, Kentucky Music Educators Association, New York State School Music Association, Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, and the American Federation of Music.
Mr. Lupi holds a Masters of Music degree in Percussion Performance from New York University where he studied with the world acclaimed timpanist, Jonathan Haas and marimba virtuoso, Simon Boyar. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY under the tutelage of former PAS president, James J. Peterscak.
