From 1965 to 2001 Tony cirone was Percussionist with the San Francisco Symphony and Professor of Music at San José State University. Tony also taught at Stanford from 1983 to 1992 and was Professor of Music and Chair of the Jacobs School of Music Percussion Department at Indiana University from 2001 to 2007.

Tony is more than a performer and educator. He is also a composer and has over 115 published works including the world famous "Portraits in Rhythm".
