Timpanist and Percussionist, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra


Jummi Tsunakawa is a Timpanist and Percussionist of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra.

Jummi, born in Saitama, Japan graduated from Toho Gakuen College of Music and completed studies at Toho Orchestra Academy.

In 2005 Jummi played in the 21st Newcomers Concert hosted by the Japan Percussion Association, and participated in the Tokyo International Association of Artists’ All Japan Classical Music Concert and won the Outstanding Performance Award. In 2006 she participated in Seiji Ozawa Music Academy’s Opera Project VII and from 2008 to 2010 studied at the NHK Symphony Orchestra Academy.

Since 2014 Jummi Tsunakawa has been a member of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra as a timpanist and percussionist.
